Every person has a story. This is mine.

For years, I carried pain I didn't know had a name. What I believed was a normal childhood was actually filled with trauma, grief, loss, and emotional wounds. My journey wasn't easy, but it taught me something life-changing:

Our pain doesn't have to define us. It can prepare us to help others heal.

How I Turned My Pain Into Purpose

Part 1: My Story Begins

People often ask me why I chose to dedicate my life to helping others heal. The answer isn't found in a classroom, a degree, or a certification. It began long before any of those things. It began in my childhood.

Growing up, I didn't know I was living in trauma.

When chaos becomes your everyday life, you begin to believe it's normal. I honestly thought every family lived the way mine did. I didn't know anything different.

My mother struggled with alcoholism. My father was physically abusive toward my mother. Fear, uncertainty, and emotional pain became familiar companions. As a child, I wasn't thinking about trauma or mental health—I was simply trying to survive.

Eventually, I was sent to live with my grandparents.

For many people, grandparents represent safety and comfort. For me, it was another difficult chapter. Our home was filled with aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family, but instead of feeling like a child, I often felt more like a servant. I carried responsibilities that no child should have to carry, while still trying to understand where I belonged.

Looking back now, I realize something I couldn't see then.

My childhood wasn't normal.

The people around me were carrying pain too. Hurt had become part of our family's way of life. Generations of brokenness had quietly become accepted as "just the way things are."

But I didn't know there was another way.

Years later, after becoming an adult and raising children of my own, something changed.

Watching my own children grow opened my eyes in ways I never expected. I began comparing the childhood I wanted for them with the childhood I had experienced.

That's when the truth hit me.

My childhood had been filled with trauma, grief, instability, and emotional wounds that had never healed.

I made a promise to myself that day.

The cycle would stop with me.

I refused to pass my pain on to another generation.

I wanted my children to grow up knowing love instead of fear

Stability instead of chaos. Encouragement instead of criticism. Hope instead of hopelessness.

That decision changed the course of my life.

As I continued healing, I began looking around my community with new eyes. Everywhere I looked, I saw people carrying invisible pain. Families struggling with grief. Children growing up in environments that reminded me of my own. Adults silently carrying wounds they had hidden for years.

I realized something powerful.

I could either become another part of the problem... or I could become part of the solution.

That realization gave birth to Purposeful Visions.

Today, every person I encourage, every family I support, every workshop I teach, and every conversation I have is rooted in one simple belief:

Pain does not have to be the end of your story.

With healing, support, faith, and purpose, pain can become the very thing that helps someone else find hope.

My journey didn't begin with success.

It began with survival.

And that survival eventually became my purpose.
